POSITIONS
SWOOP offers the same positions you would find at a professional advertising agency. This allows students to test the waters of their desired position and gain real-world experience.
Account Executive
“Think like a creative person, but talk like an accountant.”
- Alastair Crompton
The Account Executive (AE) is the face of SWOOP to the client. They manage the account budget, pitches to the client, schedule meetings, and relay information from the client to the rest of the account team. The AE is top of the chain-of-command for the team - all work must first be presented to the account executive to ensure it falls in line with the client’s expectations.
The Account Planner is the consumer’s advocate throughout the process of developing a campaign or promotion. They conduct consumer research and develop a brief to guide the creative team in constructing their advertisement. To do so, the planner must boil all important information about the consumer and product into a single important idea.

Art
Direction
“The best way to predict the future is to create it.”
- Peter Drucker
Art Directors are responsible for the visual execution of ad campaigns throughout a wide variety of media. They are intrinsically creative and should be well-versed in design, visual storytelling, strategy and necessary software such as Adobe Creative Suite. Art Directors are paired with copywriters to produce ads and promotional tools that fulfill the client’s goal.
Copywriters are the creative writers behind magazine ads, billboards, commercials, and many more promotional tools. The writers work in collaboration with the art director to create original content that serves to promote a product or service to achieve the client's goal. Copywriters need to be experts in the rules of grammar, punctuation, and spelling in order to properly proofread all work the agency produces.

“Advertising is the ability to sense, interpret… to put the very heart throbs of a business into type, paper and ink.”
- Leo Burnett
Social
Media
"The first rule of social media is that everything changes all the time. What won't change is the community's desire to network."
- Kami Huyse
Social media managers are experts on all social media platforms. They are in charge of integrating campaigns to fit social media and monitoring all activity on said media. The success of their social media campaigns is measured by analytics, engagement, shares, followers and many more parameters. To be successful, SM managers must stay up-to-date with current trends across platforms to keep their clients relevant in the eyes of the consumer.
Web Designers and Videographers are the unsung heroes behind the scenes of an agency. They build and maintain the infrastructure of SWOOP and without them, the agency would crumble like a stale cookie.
Media
"Videos can attract a different audience, one that might not want to take the time to read a white paper or an article."
- Brick Marketing
