Usain Bolt and Carmax recently collaborated on a spot ad to advertise the Carmax app. They wanted to show consumers how you can “receive an offer in two minutes or less” by using the app, and to do this they put the Carmax app against Usain bolt, the fastest man in the world.
It starts off with Usain tying his track shoes, then the lady strapping her sandals. The lady sits in a chair and starts using the Carmax App and Usain Bolt is on the start line getting ready to run. Before Usain can take off, the lady is done getting a quote from Carmax. The commercial ends with the tagline “Usainly Fast Offers”.
This commercial can be found on social media such as Facebook and Twitter, as well as Youtube and on Tv as well. The Martin Agency is responsible for this spot. When I first saw this commercial, I thought it was very appealing and super funny. The look on his face when the lady received her offer before he took off made me laugh hard. I think my favorite part of this whole ad was the tagline. As I mentioned before, the tagline is “Usainly Fast Offers”. Whoever came up with this deserves a raise, honestly. The wordplay was super nice right there, and it definitely put a smile on my face.
Since joining advertising, I pay very close attention to commercials and I like to see if they are actually good or not. There are a few brands that include celebrities in their ads to get views, and increase their brand awareness and sometimes. However, the ads are not always the best. This is one of the few ads I have seen that was actually good and included a celebrity. This is why I loved it so much.
